Day 5: Kissing

Chloe gingerly made her way inside Lux after parking outside in the alley way but as she walked through the hall to the stairs there was a sound that rang through them. Getting closer to the stairs that descended into Lux’s main area Chloe could make out that it was the sound of Lucifer playing the piano mixed with the sound of his voice singing along. With the place empty there was a haunting quality to Lucifer’s voice as it echoed through the entirety of Lux yet Chloe still liked it although ever admitting that to Lucifer was not even an option however as she stood at the top of the stairs Chloe allowed herself a moment to admire the performance. Singing seemed to be a stress reliever for Lucifer along with playing the piano cause Chloe had realized early on that Lucifer often played after a hard day or when something crappy happened either way Chloe admitted in her own head that Lucifer was very good. Slowly Chloe descended the stairs walking right up to Lucifer who didn’t stop playing but he did stop singing to acknowledge her.

“Hello detective,” Lucifer cooed

“Hey, so I booked Mr. Redden this afternoon for the murder of his wife and he’s already agreed to give a full detailed confession in court, I don’t know what you did but once again you’ve helped put away another criminal,” Chloe chuckled

“Excellent detective…I’m glad,” Lucifer simply responded throwing a slight smile her way

“Are you okay?” Chloe asked realizing Lucifer was displaying almost a melancholy attitude

“I’m fine detective…simply enjoying my evening,” Lucifer simply stated again having not stopped playing for even a moment.

“Okay...you just seem a little…off,” Chloe stated arching an eyebrow in curious confusion

“I don’t think so…care for a shot?” Lucifer asked lifting up a shot from on top of the piano

“Um…uh…sure, you know what, why not?” Chloe agreed considering she was off duty

Lucifer scooted over on the bench to allow Chloe room to sit then she accepted the shot glass from him with a smile Chloe rose the glass followed by Lucifer doing the same with his. After toasting both drank simultaneously causing Chloe to squeeze her eyes shut as the amber colored liquid slightly burned all the way down but in a good way eliciting a chuckle from Lucifer. Chloe breathed out giving a smile as she set the empty shot glass back on the piano top then after a couple minutes she looked down at the keys caressing her finger tips over them before pressing down on a couple. Lucifer watched with seemingly great curiosity yet underneath everything there appeared to be admiration as well.

“Would like to learn?” Lucifer asked

“Hmm? Oh, I doubt I could ever really play,” Chloe acknowledged with a giggle

“Nonsense, if you try then you can,” Lucifer stated simply as he took Chloe’s hand in his own, spreading his fingers along hers over the middle keys. Lucifer’s fingers were longer then Chloe’s but she’d never realized how much longer until he’d put them over top of hers.

“Now, here…” Lucifer stated as he started pressing on Chloe’s fingers gently

Chloe watched as he played the notes using her fingers in a slow pace so she could get a sense of each note and commit it to memory. Chloe was focusing on the notes but it was a little hard as she was slightly distracted by the feel of Lucifer’s hand on top of hers feeling the soft skin of the undersides of his fingers, those long, elegant fingers. Watching Lucifer’s hand soon led to watching Lucifer’s arm heading slowly upwards until she landed on his face where she suddenly noticed some things she hadn’t yet, the way his stubble ran along his cheeks to the way he parted his lips slightly when concentrating those soft looking lips…Suddenly Chloe pulled lightly away from Lucifer’s hand causing him to look over to her.

“Something wrong detective?” Lucifer wondered

“No…and I can’t explain why but…this feels right,” Chloe whispered out getting closer to a rather confused yet highly curious Lucifer.

“Detective?” it was more a plea for permission then it was a true question as Lucifer brought a hand up to lightly slip behind Chloe’s neck, lightly into her hair as his mouth lingered a few inches from Chloe’s.

“Yes,” Chloe granted the permission and that was all Lucifer needed to lean forwards finally connecting their lips in a gentle, firm kiss. Yep Chloe couldn’t explain it but this definitely felt right.
